Veterinary Surgeon

Dr Kathy Gardiner

Clinical Director, Veterinary Surgeon

Kathy grew up in Norfolk with a farming background. Along with a passiong for riding, horses have always been in her life. After graduating from University of Edinburgh Veterinary School she was keen to settle back in Norfolk. Kathy also has a degree in Bioveterinary science from Liverpool vet school. She has recently taken in homeless stray cat called Snushy, who is recovering from a broken jaw after a road traffic accident. In 2019 kathy was promoted to Clinical Director.

Dr Peter Bakonyi

Senior Clinician, Veterinary Surgeon
Peter graduated from Budapest Veterinary School in 2007. With the aim of specializing in equine medicine he completed an internship at the Curragh based Anglesey Lodge Equine Hosital in Ireland. While there Peter developed a strong interest in equine anaesthesia, foal medicine and lameness investigations. Following a few months of large animal and first opinion equine work he joined the Chapelfield team in February 2010.

Dr Rachael King

Veterinary Surgeon
Rachael grew up on a farm in Norfolk. She has had a passion and love for horses all her life. In 2015 she graduated from the University of Liverpool. In her spare time, Rachael enjoys showjumping her horses both in a competive and non-competive setting. Rachael also enjoys skiing, socialising with friends and walking her lovely dogs.

Dr Aoife Byrne

Veterinary Surgeon

Aoife qualified from Szent István University Faculty of Veterinary Science in Budapest in 2007. She took an equine internship on the Curragh in Ireland for 12 months before working for an equine ambulatory practice, followed by a stud season at the Beaufort Embryo Transfer Centre and also working at the Equine Eye Clinic. Coming from a horsey family born in Ireland, she is a gutsy horsewoman who isn't shy of riding side-saddle at high speed!

Dr Olivia Turley

Mixed Animal, Academy Veterinary Surgeon
Growing up in Canada, she completed a degree in environment and anthropology. Spring 2018, she completed her veterinary medicine degree in Dublin. Drawn to the ever-changing nature of genuine mixed animal practice and to working as part of a large dynamic team, Olivia strives to bring a positive attitude and good sense of humour to her work and playtime. When not at work she enjoys riding her bike, indulging at the cinema, reading in a café, or doing crossfit!

Dr Ed Pilkington

Mixed Animal, Academy Veterinary Surgeon

Ed gained his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cambridge, having grown up on a busy family farm in North Wales, with dairy cattle, sheep and a livery yard. He is looking forward to the challenges of the varied clinical work within mixed practice. Outside of work, Ed enjoys anything active, from training for triathlons to exploring the bounties of the Norfolk coast.

Dr Harriet Nuttall

Having grown up on the Isle of Man, Harriet always had a passion for animals and their wellbeing. She would go on to study and graduate from Cambridge Veterinary School. Harriet enjoys walking and comes to Norfolk looking forward to exploring a new stretch of coast the line. Accompanied by her other half and one unruly Sheltie, they love to hike around the Norfolk Broads.

Elly Hardesty

Registered Equine Veterinary Nurse / Practice Administrator
Elly has had a lifelong ambition to work with horses and she joined us in 2007 after working at Chapelfield Vets Norwich Branch and at a livery yard. Elly has a National Diploma in animal care from Easton College. At home, life still revolves around horses as she enjoys competing in cross country, showjumping and showing her Connamaras. Elly also helps with the care and education of young horses for a local yard.

Natasha James

SEVN, Equine Nursing Assistant
Nursing Assistant
Natasha joined the team in summer 2016, after completing a level 3 extended diploma and a level 2 work-based diploma in equine management, at Easton College. Tash is currently studying for her Equine Veterinary Nurse Qualifications. Tash loves biology, anything to do with the anatomy and physiology of the horse. When not working with horses, she enjoys eventing, showjumping and cross country with her horse Elise.

Julie Stockton

Nursing Assistant/Administrator

Julie joined the practice in the summer of 2012. As well as helping out with equine nursing duties, Julie keeps the whole equine clinic in tip-top shape and good working order! In her spare time, she has taken her love for horses to South Norfolk Pony Club where she teaches fellow equine enthusiasts. Along with her family at home, Julie looks after two horses, two dogs, four cats and some chickens.

Isabel Alexander

Isabel is married with two daughters who are her world. Isabel loves to take long walks around Norfolk with her dogs, who are always a handful. She also enjoys to go cycling and has a real passion for baking.

Emily Hicks

NVQ Horse Care level 1 and 2

Emily gained her NVQ qualification in horse care studing at Easton and Otley College. After that, she worked for four years as a groom before joining Chapelfield Veterinary Partnership at our Equine Clinic. When Emily is not at work, she enjoys walking with her partner Matt and her two dogs, Fen and Rufus. She also enjoys eating out at the many great restaurants in Norfolk!

Kayleigh Warmer

BSc(Hons) Equine Science
Equine Nursing Assistant
Kayleigh joined the team in 2018 as an equine nursing assistant after gaining her degree in Equine Science. At home she is kept busy with her own horsese and ponies and she enjoys eventing and competing.


Tiffany Derham

BSc (Hons), NPTC Qualified Chainsaw Operative
Marketing Co-ordinator
After working for a number years for a variety of animal welfare charities, Tiffany joined Chapelfield Veterinary Practice in 2003.
