Admissions & Discharges
Admissions
Admissions for day procedures and operations are made by appointment between 8am and 10am. We stagger these appointments so we can write out the admissions form, complete contact details and discuss the procedure and tests that the vet will do. Please allow about 10 minutes for this to be done.
Discharges
We request that you telephone the practice at 3:00pm to find out what time your pet will be discharged after a day procedure or operation. The usual pick up time is between 4:00pm and 6:30pm. At discharge, you will be seen by either the vet who performed the operation or day procedure or by a nurse. They will give you instructions for after care and book a post op check appointment. Post op checks and suture removal appointments are free of charge after an operation.
Pharmacy
The pharmacy is open between 9:00am and 11:30am, 2:00pm - 3:30pm and 5:15pm - 6:30pm. Please can you ring in for a repeat prescription at least 24 hours before collection. In accordance with the RCVS Good Practice Guide, we ask that every three months your pet receives a medicine check appointment before any further repeats can be prescribed.
Important Notes on Prescriptions
Prescriptions are available from this practice.
You may obtain Prescription Only Medications, Category V,(POM-Vs) from us OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy. We may prescribe POM-Vs only for animals under our care.
A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary. You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be dispensed for your animal.
The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions every 3 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances.
The standard price for a prescription is £28.50 (including VAT).
Payment & Insurance
We ask that payment is received within 7 days of treatment, day procedure or operation. We do not run small animal accounts. If you have insurance cover and wish to claim for treatment done, please can you pay us first and bring in your claim form for us to complete. We will then return the completed claim form to you, so you can send off direct to the insurance company. Only under exceptional circumstances and with prior notice and agreement, can you pay by a monthly payment plan.
Second Opinions/ Referrals
Please note that at any time during your pet’s treatment you may request a second opinion or referral. We will be happy to advise on second opinion/referral centres and provide clinical notes etc. to the referral centre. Occasionally a referral is the desired course of action in complicated small animal and equine cases. If this situation arises the treating veterinary surgeon will discuss this with you.
