Veterinary Surgeons

Ian Jackson BVetMed-MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon and Senior Partner

Ian arrived in Wymondham in 1972 as a veterinary surgeon experienced in mixed practice and was based at Stile Lane Surgery. He became a Partner in 1981. He gradually increased the small animal capability there. Then in 2002 he saw the opportunity to build a new surgery at the present address. In this he incorporated all his ideas for a state of the art surgery with advanced facilities for surgical procedures and a high standard of hygiene. This facilitates his enjoyment of surgery – particularly orthopaedic.

The design was his own and he undertook the close supervision of the building process on a daily basis. He also made sure of comfortable facilities for patients, staff and clients. The spacious building, provided with exceptional natural light, was occupied just before Christmas 2002 and has been a huge success.

Ian has wide experience of practice, though farm and large animal work is no longer undertaken. His experience is wide as a surgeon and in family pets. He has a special interest in tortoises. He is proud that he has provided out of hours care, which amounts to an additional third on top of the day work – nights, weekend, and bank holidays supported by his wife Heather. He remains passionate about his practice, patients and clients. Ian’s current dog Coates has accompanied him to work – day and night – for the last 14 years.

Ian has an old property with a large garden and he enjoys plant culture. He is a member of Designer Bookbinder and Society of Bookbinders and enjoys old book and paper renovation.

He is hugely interested in natural history – anything that lives, and belongs to the RSPB, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, British Trust for Ornithology, and Norfolk and Norwich Naturalists’ Society.
