Norwich Practice E-mail

norwich_home.jpg Chapelfield Veterinary Practice Ltd, is a veterinary surgeons based on Chapelfield Road in Norwich. The first surgery was built in 1904 by Harry P Stanley, and the vets at Chapelfield have been servicing the local area and beyond for over 100 years, with the partnership becoming a Limited Company two years ago. Their base on Chapelfield Road was established in 1962 and was the largest veterinary premises in the Country at the time. The city centre location used to cater for larger animals such as horses, yet the practice found it increasingly problematic to accommodate this due to the difficulty of transporting animals into the city. Subsequently, the Equine practice has been moved to the Company's Long Stratton specially equipped branch. These days the Norwich branch focuses on domestic pets.

The Norwich practice has 3 full time vets with 2 job sharing vets and one part-time. The practice is committed to providing a comprehensive health and management advice system for companion animals and family pets. Modern facilities help to provide a wide variety of services such as preventative medicine and advice, routine surgical procedures such as neutering, dental care, regular health checks and feeding and management advice to ensure a healthy life for all animals. Chapelfield Veterinary Partnership Ltd is also a registered teaching practice for veterinary nurses.

The practice can cater for animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, rats, caged birds and tortoises in addition to dogs and cats. The team at Chapelfields have years of efficient, professional service under their belts and are able to offer excellent advice on animal care to increase awareness and minimise the necessity for regular visits. The practice has built up a reputation as one of the very best in the area, and continues to hold true to that reputation with a regular and steady influx of family pets being brought to the expertise of the vets and nurses at Chapelfield.

REGISTERING AS A NEW CLIENT

If you have recently moved to the area, have just acquired a new pet/animal or have decided to change your veterinary practice, the process of registering is very simple. All you need to do is call the Surgery on 01603 629046 (the office number) and inform the receptionist that you would like to become a client and would like to register your animals. They will take all your details, including you animal's and enter them into our computer records. In order to avoid delays and potential compromise to your animal's welfare we would advise you to register with the practice before the need for emergency services. If necessary we will need your consent to contact your previous vets for your animals' clinical notes.

MAKING A ROUTINE APPOINTMENT

Once you are registered and accepted as a client of the practice, we will provide routine and emergency services according to our terms and conditions of business. If you wish to make a routine appointment simply call the office during normal hours. For routine services it is advisable to arrange the appointment several days in advance if a specific date is required. Same day appointments for routine visits are normally available but not always possible to guarantee, with the exception of an emergency.  Small animal appointments during consulting hours will be allocated at the time of booking and are dependent on availability. Whilst we make every effort to keep all appointments, the nature of veterinary practice means that there are occasions when the vet will have to cancel or re-organise a pre-arranged appointment at short notice to attend an emergency situation, or a different vet from that previously booked to attend may attend. We endeavour to keep you informed of any changes and to minimize any disruption or inconvenience caused by the necessary prioritization of emergency calls.

Repeat Prescriptions

If you have a patient who is on long term treatment we are able to provide repeat courses of treatment as long as we carry out periodic re-examinations of the patient in line with the law and at the discretion of the treating veterinary surgeon. We will normally provide repeat treatments for 3 months before we request that a re-check be undertaken. This is a legal requirement to ensure that the patient is suitably fit to continue receiving the current treatment at the appropriate dosage and that the animal can be deemed to be under our care.

Dispensed drugs can normally be collected from reception immediately following an appointment at the clinic. We receive a daily delivery from our wholesaler which ensures that we have adequate supplies. Special or unusual orders received before 4.30pm are generally delivered the following day. Please give 48hrs notice for repeat prescriptions to ensure the drugs are ready for you to collect at your convenience. Unfortunately we are unable to post prescription drugs.
