Veterinary Surgeons

David Stockton Equine VetDavid Stockton BVMS MRCVS

Director, Equine and Farm Animal Veterinary Surgeon

David qualified from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1988 and moved to Norfolk where he started as an assistant with Mike Holmes at the Long Stratton clinic. Initially he worked from a portacabin in Mike’s front garden, but in 1990 moved to a larger building in the centre of the village and then again in 2000, to our present site.
His responsibilities include the overall business management of Chapelfield Veterinary Partnership Ltd and David’s main areas of clinical interest involve cattle and pig herd health advisory visits and preventative medicine, along with general equine practice. In particular, David has a keen interest in all fertility aspects of cattle and equine practice and he is a registered veterinary surgeon with the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) for both chilled and frozen equine artificial insemination.
David was born in Rollesby, Norfolk and is married to Julie, another native of Norfolk. He has two daughters, Alice and Nicola, who along with Julie are keen horse riders. Time off is split between accompanying the family with their four horses to local and national competitions, poo-picking, mucking out stables and supporting Norwich City FC.

 

Steven Trickey: Mixed Animal Veterinary SurgeonSteve Trickey BVM&S MRCVS

Director, Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon

Steve qualified from Edinburgh Veterinary School in 1997 and joined the practice as a new graduate. He became a director after only 2 years and has developed his interest in the farm animalside of the practice ever since. Steve is responsible for running the farm animal side of the practice and is actively involved in routine fertility work, preventive health care and herd health programs with many of our farm animal clients. In his spare time, Steve tries to keep fit by running with his two dogs Tink and Lulu, rowing and occasionally playing rugby. Steve is married to Mary de Las Casas.

 

 

 

 

Leslie Lehrbach: Small Animal and Equine VetLeslie Lehrbach BSc BVMS MRCVS

Director, Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon

Leslie moved from Oregon in the USA to Glasgow Veterinary School in 1994 following completion of a 4 year BSc degree at Oregon State University. After qualifying as a vet in 1999 she worked for 6 months in an equine practice in Essex before starting work as a mixed vet at Long Stratton, shortly after the practice had moved to its new facility on Wellesley Road. In 2004 Leslie became a director of the company and now divides her time between running the small animal clinic and carrying out routine and emergency equine calls. Leslie is also one of the trained equine anaesthetists. Leslie spends her few moments of freedom each week with the love of her life Whistler her dog.

 

 

 

 

Chris Lehrach: Equine Veterinary SurgeonChris Lehrbach BVMS MVM Cert ES (Orth) MRCVS

Director, Equine Veterinary Surgeon

Chris qualified from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1994. After a year in mixed practice he returned to Glasgow to complete a 3 year residency in equine orthopaedic surgery, where he completed equine surgery exams and a Masters degree. Chris then worked in a TB racehorse/stud practice, followed by 3 years as an equine surgeon in Essex, before joining the practice in 2002. Chris is responsible for the running and development of the equine services offered by the practice. Chris's main interests include surgery, complex lameness/back pain investigations, foal developmental disorders and fertility work. When not working Chris spends his time kitesurfing at Hunstanton and competing in triathlons.

Assistant, Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon

Helen graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2002 after which she moved back to her home in Norfolk, working in a mixed practice in East Dereham. After three years gaining experience in small animal, equine and farm animal practice Helen joined the Long Stratton clinic in 2005 with the aim of specializing in equine practice. During 2009 Helen passed the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Examination in Equine Practice. Helen enjoys playing ‘sociable' tennis, riding, and walking her dog Spook on the farm at home.

Shona Macfarquhar: Assistant Small Animal VetShona Macfarquhar BVMS MRCVS

Assistant, Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

Shona qualified from Glasgow Veterinary School in 1994 and has worked in both large and small animal practice in England and Scotland until arriving on the steps of Chapelfield where she has, along with Leslie been instrumental in expanding the veterinary services to our small animal clients since 2005. Shona enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery and enjoys very loud rock music and walking her small hairy terrier (sometimes at the same time).

Assistant, Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon

Heidi qualified from Cambridge Veterinary School in 2008 and is the newest addition to the Chapelfield Team, having started at the end of September 2008. Before Vet School she completed a 3 year degree in Biological and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Exeter, meaning that she is not just the typical new graduate! Originally from Cornwall, Heidi enjoys work with all species particularly the large animal and equine side, and is hoping to develop her skills much further in these fields over the next few months. When not in work Heidi can be found driving large vehicles dressed in camouflage gear, kayaking or horse riding. Currently Heidi has a very handsome greyhound called Frosty.

    Mary de Las Casas BVSc Cert EP MRCVS

    Assistant, Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon

    Mary qualified from Liverpool Vet School in 2003 and following a couple   of years work for Chapelfield, she  left to go travelling and locuming around the world. On returning to the UK, Mary started an internship at Rossdale and Partners in Newmarket (one of Europes largest and busiest equine hospitals) and has now finally settled back at Chaplfields. Mary spends the majority of her time seeing horses but still enjoys the small animal and cattle work. In summer 2009 Mary and Steve Trickey got married and Mary passed the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Examination in Equine Practice .

Peter Bakonyi DrMedVet MRCVS

Assistant, Equine and Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon

Peter graduated from Budapest Veterinary School in 2007. With the aim of specializing in equine medicine he completed an internship at the Curragh based Anglesey Lodge Equine Hosital in Ireland. While there Peter developed a strong interest in equine anaesthesia, foal medicine and lameness investigations. Following a few months of large animal and first opinion equine work he joined the Chapelfield team in February 2010.

Donna Dawson: Veterinary NurseDonna Dawson RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Qualified vet nurse From a young age Donna wanted to be a veterinary nurse and has been in the profession for over 13years. She started out gaining experience as a kennel assistant before achieving her veterinary nurse qualification at Otley College. Donna has been with the practice for six years and, in addition to her normal duties, she qualified as an Assessor in 2006. In this role, Donna helps to train veterinary nurses. She guides them on both the practical and theoretical elements of the NVQ training. When not at work Donna enjoys rock music and black and white photography. She is also roadie and photographer to local band Tattooed Lies.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Ticky always wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse, (cake decorating was another possibility, but due to her self confessed artistic (dis)ability it wasn't to be!). Ticky completed her National diploma in animal care at Easton College before joining Chapelfield vets where she gained her Veterinary Nurse qualification. Ticky's enthusiasm is evident when you ask her about the job ‘I just love working with animals, always have and I think I always will'.

Andrea Chadwick

Assistant Animal Nurse

Andrea Chadwick is the longest serving nurse having worked for the practice for 15 years. Andrea wanted to work with animals from the earliest age and grew up surrounded by her beloved pets. After leaving school Andrea gained a diploma in Small Animal Care and worked with a variety of animals before starting at Chapelfield Vets in 1993.  Andrea has quite a reputation for taking home the waifs, strays, orphans, and wildlife in need. Slotted in to this very busy life Andrea finds time to run a Netball Club and enjoys playing and coaching.

 

 

 

 

 

Kelly Hilton: Veterinary Nursing AssistantKelly Hilton RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Kelly joined us in 2007 following a career break from nursing as a bar manager. Kelly has a Diploma in animal Management from Easton College and as well as working for five years at the Norwich Branch of Chapelfield Vets she has also worked as a zookeeper and for the RSPCA. Out of work Kellys interests include rock music, photography and her two cats. Kelly qualified May 2010.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vicky Neave: Veterinary Nursing AssistantVicky Neave

Student Veterinary Nurse.

Before joining CVP in 2003, whilst still at school, Vicky worked in a livery yard. She started at the vets as a kennel assistant after college, and in the evenings, and then became a full time equine nurse in 2004, before transferring over to small animal. Vicky qualified as an Animal Nursing Assistant in 2007 and is continuing her studying whilst training for her Veterinary Nursing exams. At work Vicky really enjoys spending time with the in-patients and giving them some extra TLC. Out of work, when not studying, Vicky spends time with her horses, rescued greyhound and golden retriever.

Ellie Hardesty: Equine Nursing AssistantEllie Hardesty

Assistant Equine Nurse

Ellie has had a lifelong ambition to work with horses and she joined us in 2007 after working at Chapelfield Vets Norwich Branch and at a livery yard. Ellie has a National Diploma in animal care from Easton College. At home, life still revolves around horses as she enjoys competing in cross country, showjumping and showing her Connamaras. Ellie also helps with the care and education of young horses for a local yard.

Receptionist

Yvonne holds the grand title of longest serving member of staff. She joined the vets in 1988 after training as a dispenser and raising her family. Yvonne has seen the practice move from the caravan, to the surgery on the street, to our present location. As the surgery expanded so Yvonnes role evolved from doing just about everything (nursing, cleaning, dispensing, reception .....) to head receptionist.
Out of work time is spent gardening, attending horse shows and with the grandchildren.

Receptionist

After working in the retail industry, Linda joined us in 2003 on reception. Linda enjoys helping clients and their pets, in this very busy practice. Out of work she spends her free time walking her dog Sebbie who is her ‘soul mate'.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Juliette SmithJuliette Smith

Receptionist

Juliette joined the practice as a receptionist in 2007 after working in retail management. Juliette has a busy family life outside work and describes herself as a ‘sports widow' as the weekends are dominated by Rugby and Cricket and providing the accompanying bacon butties in winter and cucumber sandwiches in summer.

Receptionist

Kitti joined reception in 2008 after working at Norwich Union. She has always wanted to work at a veterinary practice and has a particular interest in the small animal side. Kitti spends time out of work training her dogs and is working on agility with her rescued Labrador. She also has guinea pigs and a cat.

Although Wendy is based at the Brooke surgery you may occaisionally see her helping out at Long Stratton. Wendy  joined Chapelfield Vets in September 2003. She is a Cordon Bleu, married to a Master of Wine, and they share their home witha large number of batty animals. Wendy has completed the first part of her AMTRA training to become an SQP.

Gemma started working for Chapelfield vet in November 2008. She previously worked at another vets for eight and a half years. At home Gemma spends her spare time with her horses, cats, rabbits and walking her dogs.

Jodie has been working at Chapelfield Vets Long Stratton and Brooke branches since November 2008. Jodie has always loved animals so being able to work with them daily is something she takes great pleasure in. Jodie has had a range of animals over the years and currently owns two guinea pigs who live in the front room during winter and roam the Garden in the warmer months.

Jayne joined the accounts department in 2002 and deals with the small animal accounts and insurance claims in this very busy office. Jayne has a large family but when she has some free time she enjoys cooking, reading and walking Molly the springer spaniel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Madeline CarsonMadeline Carson

Practice Manager/Large animal accounts

Madeline joined in 1994. After moving to Norfolk from Shropshire Madeline joined the vets as a part time accounts assistant in 1994. As time went on she was promoted to Practice Manager and has seen the surgery grow from the early beginnings as a two vet practice. Madeline enjoys the challenge of the job and the diversity it offers. When not at work, Madeline spends time with her five grandchildren, beloved Cocker Spaniel Neo, reading and writing poetry. Madeline's poetry has been published in various magazines and from time to time can be seen in our waiting room displays.

Jackie joined the accounts department of the practice in 2007 after raising her family. She loves cooking (and eating) and enjoys keepfit especially kickboxing, and in her peaceful moments reading.

Jayne joined the practice as an Admin Assistant in 2005 after a career as an Accounts Manager. After a brief break she returned to join the reception team and has now taken up the challenge, and finally found her niche, running the very busy dispensary. Out of work, Jayne enjoys her two dogs; Mable and Gracie, and socialising in public houses. Jayne has a reputation for her penchant for cheese! Jayne has completed the first part of her AMTRA training to become an SQP.
