Andrew Illing MA, VetMB Director Andrew qualified in1988 from Cambridge University and worked at Wood Green Animal Shelter , before moving to Glastonbury. In 1992 he joined Chapelfield Vets and worked alongside his father, Oliver Illing for 9 years until his retirement. In 2002 the Costessey surgery was expanded. Andrew is maried and has two children a cat called Blotch and a dog named Charlie. He is interested in all animals and loves Norfolk and Norfolk wildlife.
Hannah Lucas BVetMed MRCVS Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon Hannah graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008 and joined Chapelfield in the December. Hannah enjoys working in a mixed practice and relishes the opportunity to develop her equine skills as well as her interest in small animal surgery. In the future she hopes to work towards a certificate in Equine practice. Hannah regularly competes her horse Molly in BSJA showjumping. She has two mad cats called Ben and Isabella. Ben requires special care as he is disabled. Hannah is enjoying getting to know the area and is hitting all the local hot spots on a regular basis.
Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon Ali graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Veterinary Medicine, having previously attained a degree in Physiology at Liverpool University. Ali enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Medicine, but has a special interest in small animals, horses and exotics. In her spare time Ali is a keen hockey player and also enjoys running and horse riding.
Kathy Love Bsc BVM&S MRCVS Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon Kathy has grew up in Norfolk with a farming background and has had horses all her life. After graduating from University of Edinburgh Veterinary School she was keen to settle back in Norfolk. Kathy also has a degree in Bioveterinary science from Liverpool vet school. Kathy is embracing all aspects of life as a vet. In her spare time she horse rides and hunts with the North Norfolk Harriers. She has recently taken on a homelss stray cat called Snushy, who is recovering from having a broken jaw in a road traffic accident.
Veterinary Surgeon David qualified in 1980 and then worked in mixed practice for seven years. He then had five years at the Royal Veterinary College running a first opinion Vet Hospital. David is a Clinical Dermatologist and a Pathologist.
Receptionists
Helen Reynolds Reception Helen started with the practice in September 2008. She has two working dogs, three rescued ferrets and two children. She enjoys the countryside and horse riding when she gets a chance.
Donna Grewer Head Receptionist Donna has worked for Chapelfield in Costessey for so long, she can't remember when she started (approx 25 years ago). She lives with her partner, two cats and a newly aquired gorgeous labrador puppy called Daisy. Donna is a qualified as a receptionist, AMTRA dispensing person, First Aider and Fire Warden.
Jenny Van Wyk Receptionist Jenny joined Chapelfield in Costessey two years ago. She lives with her family two dogs and four cats.
June Wright Accounts / Reception June is responsible for the accounts and some reception cover. When not at work June makes and decorates cakes for weddings and special occaisons. She lives with her husband and two cats.
Nurses
Alison Newell Head Nurse
Richard Dugdale Nurse After 20 years of working in the oil business Richard decided to pursue a life long ambition of working with animals. He is 'thrilled' to be working at Chapelfield Vets and is studying to qualify as an Animal Nurse.
Ami Bickle Nurse Ami has been working as a veterinary Nursing Assistant for 10 months. She enjoys horse riding, gundogs and shooting. Ami hopes to specialise in Equine Vet Nursing.
Assistant nurse Terri joined Chapelfield in October 2008 as a part time assistant nurse. She has completed a National Diploma in Animal Management at Easton College and is studying for her Animal Nursing Assistant qualification. At home Terri has two chinchillas and three dogs. She has always wanted to work with animals and enjoys being part of the Costessey team.
